Synopsis:

New France, 1689:

Two female Wendat warriors are looking for a runaway priest.

A nun who sees visions and a young widow fur trader are looking for a lost city.

A killer is looking for redemption.

Their paths collide in a darkly funny tale of forgiveness, family, and the terrible things that are done in the name of love. The play is an examination of the power of story telling and community to heal the intergenerational trauma of colonization.

Characters:

OHEO (also called Angélique Langlois): 22. A Wendat/French warrior. Quick and keen and renowned for
her kills. Too hot in everything.
SHEAUGA: 40’s. A Wendat tracker and bounty-hunter. Economical with the truth and with her killing.
NICOLAS: 28. A French priest. Gone astray in more ways than one.
MARINETTE CAMPEAU (nee Bilodeau): 22. Canadienne. Widowed and loving it.
LIONEL RAMEZAY: 27. Trapper, trader, trouble-maker.
CATHERINE: 40’s. Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) exile. Sees things that she’d rather not.
ANNE BILODEAU: 40’s. MARINETTE’s mother.
