Synopsis:

Set in former USSR (specifically Kyiv, Ukraine) between 1964-1974 Communist era. We explore the lives of Russian; Ukrainian and Ethnic Jewish communities where Jewish people are not allowed to practice religion. We find Rebecca’s family sitting around in the kitchen, hiding from the neighbors’ eyes and ears, with all windows covered and lights are very dim, on Friday night celebrating Shabbat dinner. We follow Rebecca’s difficult life unfold from school life, social life, family life and ultimately her escape from Kyiv, Ukraine. Based on Gershman’s book, “Rebecca’s Journey”.

The sequel will be “Escape Back to Kyiv”, where Rebecca secretly goes back to Kyiv, Ukraine to save and rescue her aunt from Russian-Ukrainian War of 2022.
