In the final year of his life, Heathcliff is desperate for reunion with the one creature in the universe that he loves, Cathy Earnshaw (Linton), who died in childbirth 18 years earlier. Heathcliff now lives only to take revenge against those who wronged him, the Lintons and the Earshaws, by forcing a marriage between his own son Linton and Cathy’s daughter Catherine. When the sickly Linton dies of neglect, his father inherits both The Grange and Wuthering Heights. But Heathcliff soon dies of a broken heart, while the widowed Catherine falls in love with her cousin Hareton (son of Cathy’s brother Hindley). The many ghosts of Wuthering Heights bid farewell as the young couple look ahead to a peaceful and prosperous future. (From CPO Website)
